What to check before signing a San Marcos apartment lease
Get the room, rent, lease dates, installment count, and required charges in writing. Compare the quoted cost for the whole lease before you sign.

Match the payment basis
A per-person installment covers your space. A whole-unit installment covers the apartment. Confirm the charge you personally owe and whether roommates sign separately.
Ask for the upfront and recurring charges
Put application, administrative, and move-in charges in one column. Keep a refundable deposit separate. In another column, list required charges for parking, utilities, furniture, and other recurring services.
Check when you can get the keys
Match the lease start and end dates against the first and last days you need the room. Ask when keys are available if orientation or a job starts before your lease.
